Label:
A dance wand made of softwood. It is decorated with incised geometrical designs and there are holes drilled into the shaft, possibly for inserting cassowary feathers. It is said to be used in dances. It is known as "noo gub" by the Meriam people. It was collected for the Museum by C. Hedley and A.R. McCulloch in 1907 from Mer (Murray Island.) (92x9cm.)
