Label:
A pubic cover, made from geometrically incised, decorated Melo amphora shell. It has a waist band of rope and is attached through two holes by pearl shell buttons and tufts of wool. It is said to be worn during war ceremonies and is called "hizzeri" or "alida" by the Meriam people. It was collected for the Museum by C. Hedley and A.R. McCulloch in 1907. (25x15.5cm.)
