Label:
An armlet or armband, carved out of trochus shell into a ring, in imitation of a boar tusk arm ornament. It is known as a "Nasir" by the Meriam people and is said to be worn by men on the upper arm for dances and ceremonies. It was collected in Mer, the Murray Islands, East Torres Straits in 1907 by C. Hedley, A. Riverstone and A.R. McCulloch. (10.5x2cm.)
