Label:
A nose ornament, (one of three,) made from Trochus niloticus shell. They are said to be worn by men through a hole in their nasal septums as adornment for warfare ceremonies. They are known as "kilboub" or "kirkup" by the Meriam people. This was collected for the Museum by C. Hedley and A.R. McCulloch in 1907. (13.3-x0.7cm.)
