A magic object. This is a large plain shell, said to be used with other shells arranged around a carved figure in magic ceremonies, or to decorate sacred enclosures. It is called "ass" or "as" by the Meriam people. It was collected by C. Hedley and A.R. McCulloch and presented to the Museum in 1907. (15x10cm)
