Label:
A breast ornament made from a piece of Conus leopardus, through which a hole is drilled for suspension. It is coloured with red ochre. It is worn by women to indicate engagement or marriage. It is known as "Nagarr" or "Wauri o" by the Meriam people. It was collected by C. Hedley and A.R. McCulloch in 1907 for the Museum. (8.5x6.0cm.)
